Itinerary
Pick up from the airport and transfer to Uyuni.
The tour begins at 09:30. We will visit the Train Cemetery (old steam locomotives that were used to transport minerals), then continue to the indigenous community of Colchani to see the production of a rustic form of iodised salt. We enter the vast white deserts with typical scenes of salt extraction such as piles of salt, “salt eyes” (small pools where groundwater has risen to the surface), and the first salt hotel, now a museum. We then go to Incahuasi Island, a typical place where we can find giant cactus in a habitat of volcanic rock.
Lunch in the center of the salt flats (only during the dry season).
We continue to the town of Coquesa, where we will visit its famous mummies (dating from 700 b.c., and which preserve almost intact parts of the skin, hair and fingernails). From here, we can see flamingos from the Tunupa Volcano viewpoint.
Transfer to the hotel to spend the night in a salt hotel.
Breakfast in your hotel.
