Day 1: Transfer La Paz airport to hotel in La Paz
Pick up and transfer assisted transfer to your hotel in La Paz.
Day 2: City Tour La Paz Cultural (B)
AM. At approximately 09:00, we begin our excursion at the Killi Killi viewpoint, where you can take stunning photos of the city, before going to the historic center of La Paz to see Plaza Murillo, the Executive Palace, the Legislative Palace and the Metropolitan Cathedral. We then head towards the beautiful Valle de la Luna (Valley of the Moon), stopping on the way to see the replica of Tiwanaku’s semi-subterranean temple in front of the city’s stadium. Arrival at the Valle de la Luna (Valley of the Moon), a spectacular area of badland formations where wind and torrential rainfall have sculpted a stunning lunar landscape. On the way back to the city center, we board the yellow cable car line to enjoy a beautiful panorama of the city from one of the most picturesque means of urban transport, which allows us to glimpse the secrets of the city from the air whilst also admiring the snow-capped mountain Illimani. We continue our tour in the Witches Market, a place full of traditions, selling objects for use in ancestral Andean rituals, artisanal markets where you can feel the heartbeat of this enchanting city. The tour finishes in San Francisco church, a majestic colonial church in the Baroque Mestizo style; free afternoon, at night transfer to the bus station and tourist bus to Uyuni town.
Day 3: La Paz – Sucre – city tour (B)
We´ll pick you up from your hotel in La Paz after breakfast and transfer to the airport in La Paz, flight to the city of Sucre, pick you up in the Sucre´s airport. P.M. We´ll visit the historic city of Sucre, we´ll start Freedom House (Casa de la Libertad museum), Viewpoint and Recoleta square (exterior), Textile museum, Asur (Museum) Church of San Lázaro, Santo Domingo (Saint Dominique exterior), Treasure museum or Convent of San Felipe de Nery, Bolivar Park (exterior) Main historic monuments (exterior). * Casa de la Libertad museum – closed on Monday * Flight La Paz – Sucre not included
Day 4: Sucre – Cretaceous park – Potosí (B)
Breakfast at the hotel, around at 11 am we’ll pick you up to begin our tour, the best time to visit the park is between noon and 2pm, when the position of the sun allows for the best viewing of the footprints, we’ll arrive to park at noon approximately.
A 30-45 min guided tour of the park (available in English, Spanish and French) is included in the entrance fee. Guided tours run daily at 10am, 11:30am, 12:30pm, 2pm and 3pm. Allow an additional hour to take a tour of the new path to the cliff base, and some additional time (20-30 minutes) for exploring the park and sculptures on your own. Tours of the wall leave at noon and 1pm every day except Sunday. In the afternoon, transfer to your hotel in Potosi; arrive there after 3 hours, overnight.
Day 5: Potosí – city tour – Uyuni (B)
Early in the morning (07:00 am), after breakfast, we will pick you up to start our tour in Potosí. We will visit the Royal Currency House (Real Casa de la Moneda, Closed on Mondays), the minting site that used silver extracted from Cerro Rico Mountain. We will continue to 10 de Noviembre square and visit the churches of Saint Francis (San Francisco), Society of Jesus tower (torre de la Compañia de Jesus), historic arch of Magdalene from Cobija and church of Saint Lawrence (San Lorenzo). The latter is considered a masterpiece of the indigenous baroque art from Potosi. We finish our tour with a visit to the convent of Saint Teresa. In the afternoon you will be transferred to the bus station to go through different valleys going up to the Andean Plateau until you arrive at Uyuni city and then to your hotel.
Day 6: Incahuasi island, Salt, Colchani (B, L, D)
Pickup in the hotel in Uyuni.
The tour begins at 09:00 approximately. We will visit the vast white deserts with typical scenes of salt extraction such as piles of salt, “salt eyes” (small pools where ground water has risen to the surface). We will continue to the town of Coquesa, where we will visit its famous mummies (dating from 700 b.c., and which preserve almost intact parts of the skin, hair and fingernails). From here, we can see flamingos from the Thunupa Volcano viewpoint.
Lunch in the center of the salt flats. We then visit the first salt hotel, now a museum, then Incahuasi Island, a typical place where we can find giant cactus in a habitat of volcanic rock. Continue to Colchani to spend the night in a salt hotel.
Breakfast at the hotel. 7:30 approximately we visit the indigenous community of Colchani to see the production of a rustic form of iodised salt. We then continue our tour visiting San Cristobal church, Ollagüe volcano viewpoint, Lake Cañapa and Lake Hedionda. Lunch in route. Overnight in desert hotel.
Day 8: (Green lagoons, geysers) / flight to La Paz (B, L)
Breakfast at the hotel.
06:00 am. We begin our tour visiting the “Arbol de Piedra” (Stone tree, geomorphic rock formations caused by wind erosion, located in the Eduardo Abaroa reserve). The “Laguna Colorada” (Red Lake, owing its color to red colored sediments and pigments of certain types of algae in the water. The Andean flamingos take this color, migratory birds who come in their thousands to these mineral rich waters), geysers, and the thermal baths at Polques (where you can enjoy a refreshing and energizing hot bath in the middle of the desert).
We have lunch in route then visit the “Laguna Verde” (Green Lake, so called because of its impressive emerald green color) from where we can see Licancaburvolcano. Return to Uyuni and transfer to the airport, fly to La Paz.
Upon arrival in La Paz, pick up and transfer to your hotel.
Day 9: Transfer to the Airport …/ (B)
Breakfast at the hotel, transfer to the La Paz airport.
